Bengal Stories is a series of short documentaries on Bengal’s cultural diversity and its place in today’s world. Each story is a portrait, not only of a person but also their perceptions of the life and language that made them. Currently in production, the 6 three minute shorts will hopefully provide you a glimpse of what it means to be Bengali.

I got a last minute call in November 2007 to work as a cinematographer on a music video. The video was shot on Super16. When I walked onto the set, I realized that I was working with one of the finest cinematographers in the music video industry. It was nerve racking to say the least!

Some time ago, a friend had asked me to make a music video for a Jamaican reggaeton artist. Many months later, we put together this video for him. I worked as the director of photography and co-editor. It was shot on location in Boston and New York.

Tribeca Teaches : Films in Motion

This past year, I was a Teaching Artist at the Bronx Preparatory Charter School in association with TFI’s Youth Programs. ‘The Stereotype Project’ focused on four themes: Education, HIV/AIDS, Violence and Environmental Sustainability within the South Bronx community.

As a Teaching Artist, my role involved guiding 6th graders through the technical aspects of documentary filmmaking, while simultaneously providing them with the tools to become active listeners, consider alternate ‘ways of seeing’ and engage the issues surrounding their community from all perspectives.

“These films address who these students are, where they are from, how people perceive them, and most importantly, how they perceive themselves.” TFI – Youth Programs
